Match Preview.

When Manchester United plays Southampton in the afternoon today, they will be expected to put that devastating 7-0 loss to Liverpool behind them and focus fully on this particular match.

The Red Devils had a variety of defensive issues in the Premier League derby, but they are still considered heavy favorites to defeat Southampton at home.

Contrarily, the relegation-threatened visitors needed to defeat Leicester City badly, and they succeeded in doing so. Therefore, the team restored the much-needed confidence.

Manchester United are expected to take their frustration on Southampton.

Manchester United defeated Real Betis 4-1 in the Europa League on Thursday night, bouncing back from their 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool the previous weekend.

Ever since Real Sociedad defeated United 1-0 in September last year, United has gone undefeated at Old Trafford.

Today, they are expected to thrash Southampton in an effort to keep on track their top 4 ambition and give their fans another reason to be happy again.

Southampton has improved their chances of surviving the relegation battle by winning two of their previous three league games. This season, they have traveled and picked up four victories out of their last six Premier league matches away from home.

There is very little indication that the Saints’ seven-game winless drought at Old Trafford will come to an end as the Red Devils are very hungry to make a statement on them today with their football tactics.

Juan Larios and Tino Livramento both continue to nurse their injuries.

Carlos Alcaraz, who provided Southampton with the game-winning goal in their 1-0 victory against Leicester City last weekend, is questionable.

Alcaraz was replaced by Mohamed Elyounoussi early in the second half of that match, and it may have been the only alteration to the lineup from the beginning of Leicester’s victory.

The team of Erik ten Hag is on a four-game winning streak at home in all competitions, but they will need to perform well against the visitors just like they did against Real Betis in the Europa League.

However, Southampton isn’t known for being a good traveler, so I don’t think they can ruin Man United’s celebration at Old Trafford.

In fact, the Red devils should go out there and get themselves the much-needed victory.
