EFL Cup continues in England as top clubs returns back to action

The EFL Cup continues in England, and this is day 2 of the tournament. As usual before the World Cup break, big clubs are back to grace our TV screens.

One thing about this competition is that there is no second leg for any team, and there is also no 15 minutes of extra time.

News update: Transfer: Ten Hag to offload another Manchester United legend after Ronaldo’s exit

Any team defeated is out of the competition, so every team will take it seriously at this stage of the competition.

Bet of the day

My bet of the day for today’s match is the game between Celtic and Livingston.

Match Fact

Celtic were victorious in their previous nine matches.

Celtic aims to continue their winning streak.

Wednesday night’s match between Celtic and Livingston at Parkhead represents the contest between the league leaders and the bottom half of the top six.

Thanks to a late Celtic victory in Aberdeen, their streak of eight consecutive league victories became nine.

Given that Rangers had defeated Hibs in a wild match on Thursday, it was crucial for the Hoops to produce a similar outcome in order to maintain a nine-point lead at the top of the standings.

The league leaders and Rangers traveled to Aberdeen on Tuesday in an effort to widen the gap, which was successful while Rangers formed.

Livingston hopes to cause an upset as they target the top six spots.

Livingston has a better home record than many teams in this league. Only the top 3 teams, in addition to St. Mirren, have a better home record than the Scottish Premiership standings.

The fourth-placed Lions are vying for at least a top-six spot. Livingston consistently demonstrate their ability to compete with the division’s supposedly superior teams, but playing the defending champions away from home will undoubtedly be challenging.

Celtic team news

Prior to the World Cup, Ange Postecoglou made four changes to the Celtic lineup that defeated Ross County 2-1 at Celtic Park. On Saturday afternoon, Celtic beat Aberdeen 1-0 at Pittodrie after coming from behind.

Livingston Team News

Following a 2-1 victory over Aberdeen in West Lothian, David Martindale made two changes to the Livi team. After a late equalizer forced a 1-1 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle, they were left with just a point.

Conclusion

Despite Livingston’s best efforts, Celtic should win 16 of their next 17 league matches to make it 15 wins from 16 overall.
