Top Ten Picks for 20th April, 2022

The major European Football Leagues are winding up as it is gradually coming to an end. Some teams are playing to win the title; some are competing for a Champions League spot, Europa League spot, and Europa Conference League spot, while those that performed below expectations are competing for relegation survival. This is why I decided to make only 10 selections in the prediction table below.

Featured Matches

These are a few of the European football matches which were selected by the editor.

1. Manchester City vs. Brighton

Liverpool are now the temporary league leaders following their much-needed and humiliating victory against Manchester United at Anfield. Manchester City are now below them with just 2 points, and Manchester City can’t afford to let this league title slip off their fingers. Kyle Walker is injured, while Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gündogan remain doubtful.

Brighton seem to have been resurgent so far, as they are now unbeaten in their last 3 matches. Even with this form, the home side should be able to secure a comfortable win and over 2.5 goals and come on board.

Key Fact

Manchester City have beaten Brighton in 9 of their previous 10 meetings in all competitions.

Prediction: Manchester City will win.

2. Chelsea vs. Arsenal

Chelsea, despite the internal crises going on for them, have surprisingly done marvelously well and I am sure many clubs in their condition may not survive it. They crashed out of the Champions League but have beaten Crystal Palace to book their place in the FA Cup final with Liverpool.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have been performing poorly recently and they are now in a must-win situation as losing this match means losing their Champions League ambitions.

I believe Arsenal will give Chelsea a tough time, but I believe Chelsea will find a way to squeeze in one or two goals.

Key Facts

  • Chelsea have been victorious in 6 of their previous 7 matches.
  • Chelsea have failed to win their previous two games at home against Arsenal.

Verdict:  Chelsea will either win in the first half or in the second half. Definitely, I don’t see them losing this match.

3. Atletico Madrid vs. Granada CF

Atletico Madrid must have had some relief after they won their last match against Espanyol. They now have some space as they compete for a Champions League spot at the top of the table.

Granada will not be easily beaten as they are just one point above the relegation zone. They may fight tooth and nail to survive relegation, so Atletico to win and under 4.5 goals is my call.

Key Fact

Athletico Madrid have won all their last 4 matches in La Liga. They have also played under 4.5 goals in all their last five matches in Spanish La Liga. Be that as it may, I think they will produce under 4.5 goals again.

Prediction: Athletico Madrid to win and under 4.5 goals to come on board.

4. RB Leipzig vs. Union Berlin

RB Leipzig have now played 14 matches unbeaten in all competitions. They are also in the semi-final round of the Europa League and could win their first trophy of the season. Union Berlin are just 4 points below Bayer Leverkusen and are still competing for a European spot for next season. I think RB Leipzig should win to make it to the final stage of the DFB Porkal.

Prediction: RB Leipzig to win without conceiving any goal.
