Why I selected this match.
Bayer Leverkusen plays Mainz on Matchday 17 today, with the intention to build on their 3-2 victory against Borussia Dortmund.
The defending champions currently below the league leaders, Bayern Munich by four points, therefore they will have to defeat Mainz in this crucial match.
Key midfielder Florian Wirtz should be recalled to the starting lineup, while the likes of Victor Boniface, Amine Adli, and Jeanuel Belocian continue to miss out for the home team with injury.
Mainz, on the other hand, are currently on a three-game winning streak in the the German Bundesliga but Bayer Leverkusen, who have transformed their stadium into a veritable fortress, will present a far larger obstacle for them.
