Bet of the day.
South Africa vs Zimbabwe.
My Predictions.
My first choice pick is a straight win for South Africa @1.45 odd while my value bet is a combination of South Africa win and under 3.5 goals @1.86 odd.
The reason for chosing this match.
South Africa, the tournament’s hosts, lost 1-0 to Mozambique, the bronze medallists of last year’s COSAFA Cup in the opening round of this tournament on Wednesday in Bloemfontein, giving them a bad start to the competition.
In that match, South Africans controlled the game for extended periods, holding 70% of the ball for 90 seconds, and attempting 11 shots on goal.
Bafana Bafana was punished for squandering multiple golden chances in the 74th minute when Antonio Sumbane scored what ended up being the game-winning goal for Mozambique.
South African first choice goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, left the squad for personal reasons but has been replaced by Chippa United goalkeeper Darren Johnson for the rest of the competition.
Zimbabwe and Mauritius fought to a 0-0 draw in their opening match of the COSAFA Cup, while the advent of the Video Assistant Referee remained the hot topic of the day.
They almost won that game if not for the intervention of VAR in that match that ruled off the late offside goal from their captain, Andrew Mbeba. They will hope to get something today against the home team but that will be a difficult task.
Zimbabwe’s midfielder Nathan Mutasa missed their first match against Mauritius but is now available to play against South Africa.
South Africa will be disappointed with the result of their first match as the hosting country despite dominating the game with 75% of the possession and missed several chances.
Today, they will keep that loss behind them and focus on getting back to winning ways and they will be so desperate to get their first win of the competition and I am backing them to get the much needed victory.
